Around the World in 80 Days

It has been 28years since I was born, and around 16years since people started telling me I should start reading books. It is always said books are your best friend, but for me it was moving picture which was the best friend. For me nothing beats the Television as far as entertainment and way to pass your time goes, but still book reading was one thing I always thought, I should do it, everybody does it, there must be something good in it.

I started few books, hardy boys, Da Vinci Code, Sherlock Holmes, but never completed any or rather I should say never completed even quarter of any of them. The thought of reading the book made me think, ah better watch a movie.

Got married, wifey always wanted me to start reading books, gave me her favourite book to start off with, but of no use. Nothing motivated me to start reading.

Then one day while flying to London, had my Kindle with me, which had a book downloaded in it Around the world in 80 days, a small 150 page book. Flight was delayed and my phone’s battery dying, nothing to do, thought of skim through some pages of this book.

Kindle makes it so easy for you to read the book, I started and got involved with the story, a very fast paced story(the way I thought I would like a story to be). I got so involved that during my journey I finished around 35% of the book (yeah Kindle shows you how much have you finished). I never believed my eyes that this would ever happen. I wanted to finish this book so badly that even during my one day work from home, I was trying to find time to read it.

Then I left Kindle in London and came back to Ireland, the book was around 64% finished. The first thing I did to find the pdf online and downloaded it. Then on 28th September 2013 I completed the book, the first book ever completed by me.

Brilliantly written, thought the ending was a bit stretched, there were 2 extra chapters at the end. But overall it was a good experience, now let’s see when will I pick up another book. Hope it will not take as long as my first book.
